In 1963 Mr. Ong Simpai (ancestor of Thawornwongwong family) decided to pioneer the first hotel business venture in Phuket, which was named Thaworn Phuket Hotel. Across the entire 14 southern provinces back then, there were only two hotels with air-conditioned guest rooms on offer. One of them was Thaworn Phuket Hotel in Phuket and the other one was Kings Hotel in Songkhla. With the ties of kinship, Phetchvaroon family managed to found a laundry business to provide commercial laundry services to Thaworn Phuket Hotel. The provided services directly involved professional handling and treatment of different types of lines, textiles and garments from the hotel. With limited machinery and technological innovations in that era, the newly established laundry business was substantially labor-intensive.

It was not until 1979 when Phetchvaroon family envisioned good prospects for business growth in Phuket considering the reputation it had long earned as one of the most favored tourism destinations in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Back then, hotels across the island began to offer their services to foreign tourists from across the globe. Such a fertile commercial environment led to a growing demand for professional commercial laundry services among different grades of hotel establishments that were in search of standard, quality-oriented, and punctual services. With these business prospects in mind, Phetchvaroon family managed to raise funds to found Phuket Laundry Company Limited.

This move was also intended to minimize our overheads on a long-term basis. In consideration of the relatively high-cost nature of the commercial laundry business and its cost variation closely linked to labor and world energy price, the increases in business size and production capacity were then both necessary. Despite high overheads in the commercial laundry business by nature, service charge adjustment, on the contrary, can be implemented only minimally to avoid impacts on customers.
